Grand Lodge Building

The Walls of the Grand lodge spread far and wide, the scattered towers of living and the libraries that dot the sprawl the home to many Pathfinders who take the oath of the Grand lodge. The wood and stone buildings have weathered out the years, and the streets of the walled in faction settled in Absalom wave the flags of the Grand Lodge proudly among the Pathfinder Societies banner as well.

Grand Lodge

The Grand Lodge is the world headquarters for the organization of explorers known as the Pathfinder Society. Located in the Foreign Quarter of the city of Absalom, it is a massive fortress surrounded by tall stone walls. Within the outer walls sit seven smaller fortified structures, the largest of which is Skyreach, an enormous five-towered building which also houses the Society’s Grand Hall.

Those who wish to join the society must present themselves at the gates of the Grand Lodge. If accepted, the initiate lives, trains, and if promoted to full Pathfinder status, the confirmation ceremony all occur within the Grand Lodge’s walls.

The Grand Lodge has been the seat of the Pathfinder Society for more than 400 years. Carved out of white stone, it is a five-towered fortress that can be seen throughout the city as a shining beacon of the Pathfinder spirit.

The Grand Lodge is home to a vast collection of artifacts, books, and scrolls known as the Repository. The location of the entrance to the Repository is a closely-guarded secret, known only to the Decemvirate. Inside the Repository toil 66 tongue-less criminals acquired from Absolom’s criminal justice system, who, under the magical motivation of geas, transcribe and illustrate reports from various Pathfinders throughout the world for entry into new editions of the Pathfinder Chronicles. The Repository is rumored to contain the only complete set of the chronicles in existence.

Decemvirate

The Decemvirate is the ruling body of the well-known Pathfinder Society and is headquartered in the Grand Lodge in Absalom. As per the name, it is composed of 10 experienced Pathfinders. The identities of the Decemvirate are a closely guarded secret, and their motivations are often shrouded in mystery, Pathfinder members often shrug-off strange orders from above as simply the “will of the Ten”. Nevertheless, members of the Society are sworn to absolutely obey the will of the Decemvirate, or risk expulsion or an even darker fate.

Because their identities are unknown, some say even masked to the gods, members seem ageless. It is assumed that the position is passed down through a hidden method, although it is not beyond reason that the Decemvirate age very slowly or are truly immortal.
